Long time...no post

This weekend was wonderful, and busy. Youngest turned 8, and we had an Egyptian themed party at his request.

My Mom was here and was able to pick up her quilt...pretty, isn't it?

We played pretty hard, and our small cousins were able to come as well as our friends! The little guys didn't seem overwhelmed by all the big kids running around, which was good. Thought I'd share a couple of our fun moments with you (in our so-oh-not-Egyptian-! back yard). We had a big cake (of course) decorated with The eye of Osiris and a question mark candle...why do people under 10 find it hysterical to use these candles? Both our boys have had them, now...I think they're a joke on me to make it harder to date the photos...

We spent some time making Egyptian crowns with historically accurate materials that included construction paper and glitter glue. Very glitzy. Some of the crowns took 2 days to dry and are now sitting on our dining table awaiting delivery.

We had a Mummy wrapping competition in which pairs of kids competed to see who could completely use up a full roll of toilet paper wrapping their partner...this was an absolute riot. It was interesting how some went for speed, some went for style...I took a ridiculous number of photos of this. We were laughing so hard!

And smallest cousin worked hard all day going up and down the stairs, running around and avoiding being stepped on by big people. What a honey, eh? Youngest loves helping her. Not that she needs it!
All in all, a great weekend.

Oh, and for those of you wondering about the socks....

I did dye more wool, I did finish the sock...photos to follow...

Happy Tuesday,

Lisa

How cute. I do love the quilt. Seeing how easy it was to dye I am tempted....
